• I have taught for both public and private schools in Utah, California, and New York for

  over 20 years and developed my own teaching philosophy and curriculum

• I have directed 24 plays and assistant directed more than 40 productions both

  professionally and educationally

• I have led student trips and taken various study abroad programs in England, to the Utah Shakespeare Festival, and into the Wasatch mountains to study theater, Shakespeare, and outdoor activities and storytelling

• I have written and distributed an instruction manual entitled Dramatic Play on how to use drama in the academic classroom. It encourages using strong management along with drama based learning strategies like improvisation, memorization, process- centered learning, teacher led role drama, and student led exhibitions

• As a lead teacher, I am familiar with mentoring other teachers and giving feedback and encouragement, especially in helping teachers teach Shakespeare. My approach to teachers I mentor is a combination of modeling, idea building, helping to find routines and rituals, and highlighting strengths

• As a dean of students in two different grades, I have worked closely with students, parents, teachers, and administration to plan and execute activities, camps, and retreats, as well as deal with academic and behavior issues. My mission is to be an advocate for students, listen carefully and build empathy, and ensure the school's values are at the center of what I do

• I believe in deep reflection on what I believe to be the most important issues: passion for the subject, enthusiasm, fairness to all students regardless of academic ability, gender, race, or previous accomplishment

• Having worked in interdisciplinary groups and community outreach programs, I believe in the synergy of curriculum development across departments and the importance of real world application and community initiatives.

• I hold a CDL and can drive a school bus; I have undergone recent rigorous driving training including CPR
